General Information
We recommend checking the official website of the Brazilian government in advance to confirm the most up-to-date information regarding visa requirements and entry permits.
The Galeão International Airport (GIG) is the main airport for international arrivals in Rio de Janeiro. It’s located on the outskirts of the city, about a 30-minute drive from the South Zone, where Copacabana and Ipanema are located.
Transportation between the airport and the hotel is not included and should be arranged individually.
Both taxis and Uber are available at the airport. However, Uber is generally recommended for its convenience, speed, and competitive pricing. The estimated fare is around R$77 to R$100 (approximately US$15 to US$20).
The official currency in Brazil is the Real (R$).Banknotes come in denominations of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 reais, and coins are available in 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 centavos, plus the 1 real coin.
U.S. dollars and euros may be accepted in some tourist areas, depending on the daily exchange rate. At the moment, R$5.40 equals about US$1, but rates can fluctuate.
It’s recommended to check the exchange rate before your trip. You can easily exchange dollars at airports, hotels, and currency exchange offices, which are clearly marked and easy to find.

In Rio de Janeiro, the electrical current is 127 V and 60 Hz, although some hotels and buildings may also have 220 V outlets. It’s important to check the voltage before plugging in your devices.
Power outlets in Brazil are Type N, with three round holes in a line, though many also accept Type C plugs (common across Europe and South America).
If you’re traveling from North America, you’ll need a plug adapter and should check whether your devices are compatible with 127 V.
If you’re coming from Europe (except the UK), you’ll likely only need a Type C to Type N adapter, since the voltage is similar.
Travelers from the UK, Australia, or Asia may need a universal adapter and should confirm that their electronics support dual voltage (110–240 V).
We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter to avoid any inconvenience and ensure you can charge your devices throughout your stay.
Most activities will be conducted in Spanish or Portuguese.
Depending on participants’ responses in the registration form, and if the number of attendees justifies it, simultaneous translation into Spanish and Portuguese will be provided for sessions or presentations held in English or Hebrew.
